Distance Between Spotlights | How Far Apart?
How far apart should spotlights be? A standard measurement may seem convenient, but there is no ideal distance that works for every room and every type of spotlight.
The correct distance between spotlights depends partly on ceiling height and beam angle. A wide beam spreads light across a larger surface, while a narrow beam creates much more focused illumination. The same spacing can therefore produce completely different results with two different luminaires.
Lighting also does not need to be distributed evenly throughout a room. Spotlights can be positioned to illuminate a table, worktop, cabinet, artwork or architectural wall. A perfectly geometric ceiling grid often fails to take the interior layout into account.
With a professional lighting plan, we first determine where light is actually required. The position, spacing, beam angle and output of each spotlight can then be coordinated accordingly.
Want to know the ideal distance between spotlights for your interior? Have the positions professionally planned before installation to achieve the right lighting effect.
