Trimless Spotlights | Benefits & Considerations
Trimless spotlights are recessed into the ceiling so that virtually no visible border remains around the luminaire after finishing. This creates a minimalist appearance in which the lighting becomes part of the architecture.
The main advantage of trimless spotlights is the clean ceiling design. Particularly in contemporary and minimalist interiors, this can make a significant difference. Attention shifts away from the luminaire itself and towards the light it creates.
Installation, however, requires more preparation than with a conventional recessed spotlight. The mounting base is generally installed before the final ceiling finish and then plastered into the ceiling. The exact method depends on the luminaire and ceiling type. Incorrect positioning can also be more difficult to correct afterwards.
For this reason, trimless spotlights should ideally be specified during the technical planning stage of a new build or renovation. The model, position, installation depth, beam angle and driver should all be considered beforehand.
Considering trimless spotlights for your interior? Include them in your lighting plan early so that architecture, ceiling finish and lighting are coordinated from the start.
